Art Toronto 2014

This year marks the fifteenth consecutive year of Feheley Fine Arts’ participation in Art Toronto, since its inauguration in 2000.

Last year, David Balzer wrote the following for the Canadian Art website. “The best contemporary drawing in Canada is coming out of Cape Dorset, and at Feheley Fine Arts’ booth you will find a fine cross-section of established and emerging names.”

At this year’s fair, we will be showcasing established Cape Dorset artists, including Itee Pootoogook, Shuvinai Ashoona, Ohotaq Mikkigak, Jutai Toonoo, and Tim Pitsiulak. Last year, the Art Gallery of Ontario purchased a stunning Shuvinai Ashoona drawing entitled ‘Shovelling Worlds’ from our booth.  Feheley Fine Arts is proud to announce that the Art Gallery of Ontario has purchased a drawing from our Art Toronto booth for the third consecutive year. This year, they picked a work by Shuvinai Ashoona entitled ‘Cape Dorset From Above.’

Additionally, we will be including works by emerging Inuit artists, like Saimaiyu Akesuk, Siassie Kenneally, and Kudluajuk Ashoona. These artists will also be featured in our exhibition A New Perspective opening November 8th, 2014 at Feheley Fine Arts.  Saimaiyu Akesuk’s graphic works received immediate attention from the contemporary arts community at Art Toronto 2013. This year, Feheley Fine Arts will have a section of the booth dedicated to her playful animal-themed drawings.

Feheley Fine Arts is looking forward to great weekend in Booth 600, October 24 – 27 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. If you cannot make it to Art Toronto, all of the works for sale in our booth will be available on our website after the opening night gala.
