Feheley Fine arts is proud to announce the release of the Cape Dorset Annual Print Collection. A tradition since 1959, the collection includes lithographs, etchings and stonecuts from eleven different artists. This annual event receives a large amount of attention from art collectors because no more than fifty editions of each print are created; every year, the release is met with line-ups of people hoping to purchase one of the highly sought-after prints.
To accompany the print release, Feheley Fine Arts is presenting The Hand of the Artist, an unique exhibition juxtaposing the prints by each of the eleven artists with their original drawings. These are not the seldom-released print drawings, but many echo the form of the prints and all give insight into the style of each artist. This presentation will depict the iconic prints beside playful and colourful drawings, allowing the viewer to appreciate the working process of Cape Dorset artists.
The artists, Papiara Tukiki, Ohotaq Mikkigak, Saimaiyu Akesuk, Tim Pitsiulak, Qavavau Manumie, Ningeokuluk Teevee, Nicotye Samayualie, Siassie Kenneally, Malaija Pootoogook, Pitaloosie Saila, and Kenojuak Ashevak, are in various stages of their careers and their prints portray a multiplicity of Inuit subjects and stories.
The exclusive opportunity to view and purchase the Cape Dorset artists’ original drawings will correspond with the opening of the Annual Print Collection at Feheley Fine Arts on Friday, October 18th, 2013.
