Itee Pootoogook‘s most recent exhibition “Itee’s Kinngait“ at Feheley Fine Arts, was a great success!

Despite the opening being on a wet and gloomy Saturday afternoon, there was a large turnout to view Itee’s most recent contemporary landscapes. The opening remarks, given by writer Sarah Milroy, captivated the group and were followed by an question-and-answer period with the artist. Watch the video of the opening speech here.

The show was nearly sold-out, with purchases made on behalf of major public institutions including the Art Gallery of Ontario, TD Bank Financial Group, BMO Financial Group, and several other corporations.

Feheley Fine Arts hosted Itee for a week in Toronto during his exhibition and he was present during installation and at the opening. During his stay, he was able to travel around the Greater Toronto Area to view different collections, and even made it to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. Although they are normally off limits to the public, the McMichael Gallery kindly opened their archives so Itee could view his father’s drawings and prints. Itee’s father, Paulassie Pootoogook, was a prominent Inuit artist known internationally for his prints and carvings.
