On February 8th Feheley Fine Arts hosted the book launch of Annie Pootoogook: Cutting Ice, a book to accompany the retrospective exhibition of Annie Pootoogook’s career, of the same title, held at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection from September 2nd, 2017 to February 11th, 2018. This show examined the life and career of Pootoogook as a creative catalyst within Canada’s contemporary art scene, most well known for her drawings that feature an un-exoticized depiction of life in the north.
Published by Goose Lane Editions, this beautifully made hardcover book chronicles the development of the exhibition, allowing the exhibition to have an after-life. Dr. Sarah Stanners, Chief Curator at the McMichael, was in attendance to introduce Dr. Nancy Campbell, curator of the exhibition and author of its accompanying book, and Patricia Feheley, both of whom worked closely with Annie and knew her well. Nancy and Pat spoke about her life and career. Also in attendance was the team from Goose Lane Editions.
Annie Pootoogook: Cutting Ice, the book, is available for sale at Feheley Fine Arts.
