Introduced to the Kinngait printmaking studios in the early 1960s, the techniques of etching and engraving opened up new creative pathways for Inuit artists. They produced works in striking detail, offering the artist a unique opportunity to work directly on the metal printing plate. This exhibition brings together some of the earliest and most exceptional pieces from that formative period, featuring rare prints that reveal the early stages of a printmaking technique still used by artists today.
