Exhibition: Where the River Widens
November 16 - December 14
In Inuktitut, the hamlet of Baker Lake is called Qamani’tuaq—“where the river widens.” Known as one of the most artistic communities in the Canadian arctic, Baker Lake is also one of the most geographically interesting: it is the North’s sole inland community with one of the harshest climates in North America. This selection of graphics by Baker Lake artists pays tribute to the land, culture, and life that has shaped their community. See work by artists Jessie Oonark, Janet Kigusiuq, Victoria Mamnguqsualuk, Simon Tookoomee, Luke Anguhadluq and more.
