On November 25th Feheley Fine Arts had the privilege of hosting a book signing for Germaine Arnaktauyok’s new book, Inuit Spirit. Inhabit Media has worked collaboratively with Arnaktauyok to produce this adult colouring book with text explaining the traditional Inuit imagery.
Accompanied by Neil Christopher, publisher and managing partner at Inhabit Media, this event included a discussion of the book and its publishing process. In a Q & A lead by Pat Feheley, Arnaktauyok discussed her career, the changing technologies of publishing and illustration, as well as an upcoming animation project. Living in Yellowknife, throughout her career this multidisciplinary artist has worked as an author, educator, illustrator, and fine artist. Her interests include using her work to educate about traditional life, as well as share her life story.
In 2015, Inhabit Media published My name is Arnaktauyok: The Life and Art of Germaine Arnaktauyok. In this autobiography, Arnaktauyok uses both narrative and illustration to tell her unique story.
My name is Arnaktauyok: The Life and Art of Germaine Arnaktauyok and Inuit Spirit are both available for purchase at Feheley Fine Arts.
