Inspired primarily by his own life experience, the drawings of Luke Anguhadluq (1895–1982) feature scenes of traditional life, hunters, shamans, families, and the various animals native to his home community of Qamani’tuaq (Baker Lake).

Anguhadluq was a hunter and camp leader throughout most of his life. He moved with his wife, artist Marion Tuu’luuq, and family to the settlement of Qamani’tuaq in 1961 during a period of severe famine. He made his first drawings shortly after.

Anguhadluq’s unique drawing style consists of simplified forms often depicted from several different viewpoints. His images translated well into the media of prints, and which were included in every annual Baker Lake Print Collection up until the end of his life.
