Feheley Fine Arts has been pleased to exhibit Darcie Bernhardt: From the Peel to the Arctic Ocean. On June 4, we had the pleasure of hosting Darcie Bernhardt in conversation with John Geoghegan, Curator at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.

Throughout the discussion, Bernhardt guided audiences through the exhibition, pausing at each work to share the layered narratives behind the paintings. With Geoghegan’s thoughtful questions and insights, visitors gained a deeper understanding of the stories and imagery woven throughout the exhibition. Some works reflect deeply personal experiences, while others speak to Bernhardt’s home in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, childhood memories, recent experiences, or the lives of family members.

Together, the paintings offer a vivid portrait of life in the North. Rich with subtle yet meaningful references to Inuit culture and everyday life, each work carries a profound sense of place, memory, and lived experience.
