Feheley Fine Arts was delighted to host the opening reception for Spirit of Life, Abraham Anghik Ruben’s second solo exhibition at the gallery, presented in partnership with Kipling Gallery. The event welcomed both longtime admirers and new fans of Anghik Ruben’s work, drawn to his powerful carvings in stone and bone. These pieces reflect a profound connection to his Inuit heritage, offering a poignant exploration of cultural rediscovery and personal identity. The exhibition draws deeply from Inuit mythology and explores the historic interactions between the Inuit and the Viking Norse.

Following the launch of his solo exhibition at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the body of work presented at Feheley Fine Arts is both a celebration of Anghik Ruben’s mastery as a carver and a showcase of his talents as a painter. Like his sculptures, his paintings are rich in narrative and historical resonance. Every line is placed with purpose, forming a visual tapestry that expresses his deep and enduring interest in the meeting of early settlers and the lasting impact of their presence on Inuit culture.
