It is with great sorrow that we learned of the passing of artist and friend, Ohotaq Mikkigak. He passed away in his home in Cape Dorset on October 29, 2014. Our thoughts are with his family and community during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed.

Tanya Tagaq’s latest CD, Animism, was awarded the Polaris Prize for best Canadian album. The album was originally launched in May 2014 with a private party at Feheley Fine Arts. The Globe and Mail described Animism as a “wordless protest album, semi-improvised sonic sculpture and confronting, grunting, living, breathing, channelling, whirlwind piece of art.” Congratulations Tanya on your well-deserved win!
